The verb in the sentence acts as an indicator that what is being done. Then a sentence requires a subject which indicates who is performing the task. After we identify these two basic elements of a sentence then it gets broader with the addition of different parts of speech, connectors, adverbs, nouns etc. No English language learner can skip through these basic fundamentals of English language.

Learning these fundamentals of English language will save you leaving your words unambiguous and clearer. Moreover, you can also communicate coherently when you know when and where to use a particular word. However, that will only happen when you can judge its category properly. So here’s a list of the main categories with a few examples.

The Use of Verb to Form a Sentence in English Language:

According to the universal definition, verb is a word which shows an action and the action is the basic part of a sentence. The verb signifies what is being done or what you want to happen. For instance; “he walks in the park regularly” the word “walks” represents the action so if we eliminate most of the words in the sentence it still makes sense such as; “he walks”. The verb changes its forms when we switch tenses from past, present or future. In fact, there are three forms of verb for instance; for the verb “walk” which itself is the first form and then there are second form “walked” and there is the third form which is also “walked”. The second and third forms are used for past tenses and perfect tenses. For instance; “he walked”, moreover, there is the “ing” used in continuous tenses form which requires a helping verb such as; “is”, “am” or “are”.

The Use of Auxiliary Verb to Form Sentences in English Language:

An auxiliary verb is used to provide support to the “main verb” where required or in continuous tenses. For instance; in the present continuous tense the auxiliary verbs are “is”, “am” and “are”. But when it comes to past continuous tense the auxiliary verb changes to “was” and “were” such as; he was walking, or “we were walking”.  While in future continuous tense the auxiliary verb becomes “will be or shall be” such as; “she will be walking”. However, in perfect tenses we use the auxiliary verbs “has”, “have” or “had”. While has is used for 3rd person like “he” or “she” and “have” is used for the second person like “you” or “we” “had” is used with past perfect tense as a whole.

The Correct Arrangement of the Words in English Language:

The correct arrangement of the words play a crucial role for the sentences being grammatically correct. If you do not arrange the words correctly they wouldn’t actually make sense at all. The correct word order also helps in successful keyword research due to the smart use of language and word placement.

The Correct Use of Determiners in English Language:

Determiners work as pointers in English language, in other words they are used to specify a common noun For instance, “my car”, here the word my determines that the car is mine. Similarly, in the sentence “a car with a powerful engine” the word powerful determines the quality of being powerful.

The Use of Connectors in English Language:

Connectors as the name implies are used to connect words, sentences as well as phrases. Such as; He plays cricket with his old bat, the word with connects two objects to each other. However, when we break the sentence “he loves tea because he’s British”. We can witness two different sentences “he loves tea” and “he is British”. Not that these two sentences are connected with the word “because”

These fundamentals of English language are the pillars on which it stands. The one who has master these has increased his efficiency in English language.
