For browsing purposes, both devices will give you a fairly seamless experience, and allow you to do basic research and online assessments.
A lot of the time, the difference between android and Apple devices is based on personal preference, but provided you have chosen a good quality device, you will likely find both will deliver the needs of a school aged child.
